BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE
The redevelopment scheme, Building for a New Future, is the design and build of a new extension and the refurbishment of some existing galleries and public spaces. The scheme will transform Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum, allowing for improved access and enhanced opportunities for the display of locally, regionally, nationally and internationally important art and heritage collections. It will also enable the Art Gallery & Museum to become a major venue for national and international touring exhibitions.
The new building will provide:-

* A 139 sq m dedicated picture gallery
* A 239 sq m of centralised storage and workshop areas
* Public archive and other study facilities
* A 297 sq m of flexible temporary exhibition galleries
* A dedicated space for schools
* Improved facilities for outreach, informal learning and arts development work
* A new home for the town's tourism services
* The creation of a 'new gateway' to Cheltenham's oldest building, St Mary's Church
* The formation of a 'learning/crafts hub'
