Wilton House, home to the 18th Earl of Pembroke, provides a fascinating insight on British history. Originally a 9th Century nunnery but now set in 21 acres of landscaped parkland, water and rose gardens beside the River Nadder and Palladian bridge. The magnificent Inigo Jones’ State rooms, including the fabulous Double Cube Room - the finest surviving 17th century stateroom in England - which was designed to display the family portraits by Van Dyck. This is the greatest collection of paintings by the artist still be seen in its original setting

Within the Old Riding School visitors can see a recreated Tudor Kitchen, Victorian Laundry and award winning introductory film covering over 460 years of history narrated by Anna Massey. Excellent children's adventure playground, tearoom and gift shop. A new costume exhibition is planned for 2005 and programme of special events throughout the year.

The house is available for private functions and was recently granted a licence to hold civil wedding ceremonies. In addition, it has also been used in many major films including "Mrs Brown", "Sense and Sensibility", "The Madness of King George" and most recently "Pride and Prejudice".
