Test Valley is situated in the beautiful rural landscape of north west Hampshire. This picturesque location is an ideal touring base for the south of England. Excellent road and rail links make Test Valley easy to reach, yet nestled between Salisbury and Winchester it remains a secluded alternative destination with its own treasures and is ideal for short breaks.
Test Valley’s beautiful historic houses are amongst the best in the country and include Mottisfont Abbey, which hosts the national collection of old-fashioned roses. Romsey Abbey is one of the great parish churches of England and is an excellent example of Norman and early English architecture. This historic market town also boasts the Palladian manor house of Broadlands, the former home of Lord Palmerston, situated in its own grounds on the banks of the River Test.
The Test Valley is also rich in Iron-age history, a walk up the huge 2000 year old ramparts of Danebury hill fort is rewarded by views across the beautiful surrounding countryside and Stonehenge is just a short drive away.

The variety of landscape provides interesting routes for visitors on foot, with something to suit all tastes, from riverside ambles and woodland walks to rolling hillsides. With hills sweeping down to the river valley, the miles of bridleways give cyclists a variety of options from challenging downhill tracks to gentle rural rides, travelling on quiet country lanes and tracks passing thatched cottages in pretty
