A Historic Tour of Historic Derby

Historic Derby

DERBY is steeped in history. Roman and Viking settlements made Derby their home before the days of the Industrial Revolution - and the present day Industrial Museum is housed on the site of England's first factory, now part of the newly acclaimed Derwent Valley World Heritage site.

The majestic Tudor tower of Derby Cathedral dominates the city's skyline. Georgian and Victorian architecture can be found around every corner and Pickford's house Museum epitomises the grand lifestyle of Georgian times.

Royal Crown Derby is the oldest established company in Derby and has produced the finest bone china tableware and gifts for over 250 years. A Visitor Centre at the factory site offers a great insight into this popular attraction.
