Welcome to Snowdonia Mountains and Coast, an enchanting area of striking contrast which includes the Snowdonia National Park, the Llˆyn Peninsula and the Cambrian Coast.
Snowdonia, with its breathtaking beauty and fantastic scenery, boasts the highest mountains in England and Wales. Renowned as one of Britain’s most beautiful National Parks, it is fringed with a coastline of popular seaside resorts and peaceful “Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty”.
Snowdon itself is only seven miles from the sea. The lower lands around the mountains consist of wooded valleys, open moors, lakes, river, forests and waterfalls. Where else can you walk on wind swept moorlands; sail on a mountain lake; explore a copper mine; cycle on designated cycle routes and enjoy such a range of natural beauty and wildlife.
Snowdonia offers magnificent beaches and coastline – from the family hurly-burly of Barmouth and Cambrian Coast to the wild sweeping sands of Porth Neigwl on the Llˆyn Peninsula, there is something to suit all tastes. The Welsh coastline has a huge variety of beaches and you can enjoy them safe in the knowledge that the water is clean, the environment is safe and the facilities good. The low-tide sands and promenade of Llanfairfechan are an ideal attraction for a peaceful day out. In nearby Penmaenmawr, there are sun terraces, grassed areas and a shingle-backed sandy beach which looks across Conwy Bay to Anglesey and Puffin Island.
