Historic 14th century moated manor house enlarged in the 16th century. Home of the family of Lord Saye and Sele for over 600 years. It conains its own medieval chapel, vaulted passages, fine panelling, splendid plaster ceilings and fireplaces. A centre of resistance to King Charles I during the Civil War, it contains mementos of the period including armour and weapons.
There are are fine walled gardens with old roses, shrubs and herbaceous borders. The castle is surrounded by a moat and set in open parkland.

Additional Services
Disabled access: there is level access to the garden, ground floor of the house, tearoom and shop. There is no lift to the upper floors. Large print information cards are available. There is a WC for disabled visitors in the car park. Those with walking difficulties may be driven to the front door of the house.

Opening Times
Open 1st May to 15th September on Wednesdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays (2-5pm). Also Thursdays in July and August (2-5pm)
Directions
Banbury is on the M40, 23 miles north of Oxford. Enter Banbury and at Banbury Cross take the B4035 west signposted to Shipston on Stour then, after about two miles, turn right in Broughton village at the crossroads by the Saye & Sele Arms pub and follow the signposts to Broughton Castle.
