NON SMOKING HOTEL IN LLANWDDYN, MID WALES
The Lake Vyrnwy Hotel sits in a fold in the Berwyn mountains on the Mid-Wales Shropshire border (one hour and a half from Birmingham).
The Lake, a magnificent Victorian Reservoir complete with a fairy tale water tower dominates the scene from the hotel.
The view really is quite exceptional. One can sit and enjoy the cuisine and watch one of the finest sunsets in Britain.
The new conservatory and terrace compliment the splendour of this fine Victorian lodge. There are wonderful lounges and great bedrooms, all individual and most with that view.
The welcome is unpretentious and informal yet professional.
The food is a joy and the restaurant has 2 AA Rosettes.
There is also a traditional Tavern on site with real ale and more informal dining; it makes the best of that amazing view.
For those who just wish to relax there are quiet corners in this little piece of heaven. For the more energetic, why not fish (the hotel has the rights on the Lake), you could walk, quad or mountain bike, even row a boat.
No matter what you do Lake Vyrnwy is “the perfect antidote to modern life”.

Restaurant
The restaurant here at Lake Vyrnwy has held 1 AA rosette for its cooking for several years. It appears in many guides and has been acknowledged in the AA 2002/3 Restaurant guide for "Best use of local produce", and is headed by David Thompson. Our dress code for the Tower Restaurant is that of smart casual dress, no jeans & trainers
David has gathered around him a vibrant talented, if young brigade. The main emphasis is to cook creative yet fulsome food, using the, fresh, local produce for which Wales and its Borderlands are renowned.
The hotel has a small in hand farm and produces much of the lamb that is used on the menu. It also has the sporting rights to the estate and in season, much of the game shot finds it's way to the restaurant. Menu's change with the seasons. 1 Rosette for cuisine.
