Situated in Marlborough’s world famous High Street, The Merchant’s House is one of the finest middle-class houses in England. Its well-preserved Panelled Chamber was completed in 1656. Both the Dining Room and Great Staircase display recently uncovered 17th century wall paintings which have aroused much expert interest. Leased to the Merchant’s House (Marlborough) Trust. Location: OS Ref. SU188 691. N side of High Street, near Town Hall. Open: Easter-Sept: Fridays, Saturdays, 11am-4pm.
