Situated near Stirling and only a 40-50 minute drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh, Cromlix House has been judged a top 10 Scottish hotel by the AA. When not relaxing in your individually styled bedroom or sizeable suite, you can unwind in the Victorian style library, cosy morning room or leafy conservatory that make up some of the 5 public rooms about the house. The varied menu is prepared by an award-winning chef, and you are encouraged to tailor your dining experience by taking dinner almost anywhere in the hotel; amid antiques, paintings and ornate furnishings. Fly fishing and clay pigeon shooting are available on the estate to allow you to make the most of this secluded location. Cromlix House was built in 1874 as a family residence. Intended at the time as a 'cottage', little such modesty is evident today in the charming, idiosyncratic character of this remarkable building. Upon approach you will be presented with a huge carved sandstone doorway and a wood-panelled porch, which will lead you to the inviting chairs and warm log fires of the reception area. A traditional Scottish breakfast is served every morning; whilst afternoon tea includes fresh, home-baked cakes and pastries that can be enjoyed in the garden or in any of the hotel's public rooms. A 3-course lunch is available Monday - Saturday (around 25 GBP per person). On Sundays, a traditional roast dinner is on offer. Dinner is served by candle-light amid sparkling silver and crystal. Canapes and 4-courses are on offer, for around 40 GBP per person. The menu is varied on a daily basis, with emphasis on seasonal British Produce. With no formal dining room, you have the freedom to dine in a number of rooms or even in your own suite. Private dining is available; from a romantic dinner for 2, to a 44-strong dinner party. An extensive wine list is on offer, as is a broad selection of high quality Scottish Malt Whiskies. Functions and conferences can be readily accommodated, with an original chapel making Cromlix House particularly ideal for weddings. Described as "exceptional, world class" by Visit Scotland, Cromlix House Hotel was also praised for its "delicious food" and "very special morning views" by Hollywood star Ashley Judd and her racing driver husband Dario Franchitti.
